About
Hello, I’m Christine Alevizakis (she/her).
My own roots stretch in a few different directions. I began working as a documentary filmmaker in my early 20’s which exposed me to cultures radically different from my own. It confirmed that storytelling knows no geographical boundaries, nor does grief, longing or the desire to be heard and seen.
I have also practiced yoga and mindfulness for more than 25 years, which informs the holistic framework of my practice: I believe the body, mind, spirit and environment are integrally connected.
I hold a Master’s in Environmental Studies and am a strong believer in the healing potential of the natural world. Nature continues to be my greatest teacher and its complexity and beauty are a constant support in my own life.
I’m the daughter of Greek immigrants and my ancestors lived and loved on the mountains and shores of the island of Crete. I have three grown children, a partner and a dog, all of whom have helped me realize my capacity for both tolerating uncertainty and engaging and loving fully. The river never stops moving.
I’m a lifelong learner and a lover of all things beautiful and moving and transformative including art, music, nature, animals and people, of course.
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and a Canadian Clinical Counsellor (CCC). I work in-person in mid-town Victoria, Bristish Columbia and see clients on Zoom from wherever they may be.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out, I’d love to hear from you
My Approach
My style is collaborative, engaging, non-judgmental and naturally curious.
Foundationally, I believe everyone is the expert of their own life. I help my clients tap into their inherent strengths and wisdom which may be temporarily blocked or difficult to access. Restoring balance and ease is a collaborative project and one of the greatest joys of my work.
My sessions may include elements of mindfulness, somatic inquiry, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Strengths-Based work to foster increased awareness and clarity. I am also an EMDR trained therapist and use this powerful modality with clients when appropriate.
I’m always working on deepening my own self-awareness and sense of connection in the world, and am committed to sharing what I learn with others. I try to stay mindful of my own patterns and privilege, welcome feedback, and my own learning is continually inspired by the intelligence and courage of the people I work with.
